H.O.S.T.S.

H.O.S.T.S. stands for Helping One Student To Succeed.

HOSTS is a volunteer-based program that takes place at Mother of God School between 9.00 am and 10.00 am every Monday, Thursday and Friday.

Volunteers come and support a child's love of reading by reading books to individual students and by listening to students read to them.

Importantly, the HOSTS program allows students to build a positive relationship with their volunteer buddy and this supports not only their self esteem, but also their continued progress in reading.

HOSTS is based on a successful program developed at the César Chávez Community School in Santa Fe.

"You're never too old, too wacky, too wild to pick up a book and read like a child" - Dr Seuss.
