How does Restorative Practice Works?

  • The students are empowered to own their behaviour.

  • The students involved agree that a conflict or argument has taken place and try to fix things up.

  • All those involved have a chance to tell their side of the story.

  • Each student has a chance to say how the problem could be resolved.

  • An agreement is reached.

  • It may still involve discipline procedures – accepting consequences for their wrong doing.

  • Relationships are healed wherever possible. Students are encouraged to seek and give genuine forgiveness. Time is allowed if necessary for this to occur.

  • The focus is on MOVING FORWARD and ‘STARTING AGAIN’.
